The Holcim Ravena cement plant has been a member of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (RCS) community for more than 60 years as a business leader, and has supported projects locally and across the Northeast since 1962. The plant’s parent company, Holcim U.S., prioritizes innovation and is committed to making the world it builds greener, healthier, and more sustainable for all. This is why the Holcim Ravena plant underwent a $500 million modernization project to make the plant a state-of-the-art facility, which generated more than $170 million through permanent and temporary jobs.

History

Since 1962, the Holcim Ravena cement plant has been producing materials for the construction industry and helping build the local area community’s and the State of New York’s infrastructure and iconic landmarks, such as the construction of One World Trade Center Memorial, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, and the new Giants Stadium.

Our parent company, Holcim U.S., is the number one building solutions provider in the world. As the global leader in the construction materials industry, Holcim has both the opportunity and responsibility to make a positive difference.

We continuously invest in new equipment and technology to improve our operations and align with our company’s mission to build a better world in which all of us can live, work and play. This is why the Holcim Ravena cement plant has significantly invested in a state-of-the-art, world-class facility equipment and knowledge to operate within the highest environmental standards. Our goal for this modernization was, and continues to be, to meet the growing needs of our customers and remain a strong partner to the local community.

Through plant modernization, we reduced major regulated emissions and continued to meet the most stringent environmental limits in the construction materials industry.

Our People

Our values are built on a continuous focus on health and safety in everything we do. The health and safety of our employees, contractors, and the communities in which we live and work is paramount.

We conduct our activities professionally and responsibly, carefully managing the risks of our business.

Economic Impact

We proudly manufacture cement, which is the main ingredient in concrete, to develop the infrastructure of the world around us.

Using innovative solutions, we assist in the construction of quality housing while helping create more compact, more durable, more beautiful, and better-connected living spaces. Our cement also goes into New York roads, schools, hospitals, dams, and ports, as well as for decorative applications such as patios, floors, staircases, driveways, and pool decks.

Concrete connects us, shelters us, provides safe drinking water, and is truly a part of our everyday life by serving as the critical infrastructure of our nation.

Additionally, through our recent plant modernization, we have maintained more than 100 plant operation jobs and created up to 800 construction jobs through the project, generating over $170 million for the local economy.
